Episode 59

Download Episode 59

In this special, extended, slightly-after-Christmas episode, Shawn and Jonathan focus on Bethesda's newest release: Fallout 4. Haven't heard of it? Then you must be new here because it's like, all we talk about. BUT! We're coming up on our 7th (!!) anniversary for the podcast and want to do something completely not Fallout 4-related for the next episode. Unless Bethesda releases the new DLC in the next month. They wouldn't do that, would they?

Episode 58

In this episode, Shawn is joined by his ole pal Mash who talks in greater detail about the post apocalyptic TV show The 100. The show's second season just hit Netflix, and a third season is scheduled for next Spring, so it seemed like a good time to talk about it.

Check us out on Facebook for more discussion on the episodes (or, like, Fallout 4), or send us an email at ttaftermath AT gmail.com

In this episode, we're joined by our old pal Akin who talks about his experiences at DragonCon's Apocalypse Rising track and Wasteland Weekend earlier this month. Then Shawn says that he really really really wants to go out to Wasteland Weekend "next year" and Jonathan gets some great skit inspiration for the "Second-to-the-last of the V8s." We have fun here.

We're back already with our promised impressions of Mad Max: Fury Road in the first half of this episode, and some serious discussion about the brand new Fallout 4 announcement trailer in the second half.

Just a warning about the first half: If you haven't seen Fury Road yet and want to avoid spoilers, avoid the section from the 10-minute mark through to the 44-minute mark where we discuss the plot quite extensively.

We also mention a reader's post-apoc radio sitcom called "Don't Worry; It's Only the End of the World," so be sure to check that out on iTunes.

And be sure to follow us on Facebook for regular discussion on our favorite post-apocalyptic news, and on Instagram for some post apocalyptic vehicle pics.

Mad Max: Fury Road is releasing this week, and Shawn & Jonathan decided it might be fun to talk about some of the lesser-known tidbits from the Mad Max trilogy lore up to this point. Is Fury Road the fourth installment sequentially? Is it a sequel to Beyond Thunderdome? Will there be a Lord of the Flies theme? Will the oil finally be left and will everyone just walk away? Listen and find out!

For the next episode, we plan to tell our thoughts on the movie after we see it, so look for that one coming soon(ish)!

In this episode, Shawn is joined by Jim "The Tank" Dorsey, the man, myth, and legend behind the Lord Humungus character at various conventions and the Wasteland Weekend event in LA. You can also see his Road Pig costume in the photos from last episode. Tank talks about his inspiration to play the character and how he got involved with the post-apocalyptic genre from a young age.

The intro clip you heard was Tank and his Dogs of War kicking off Wasteland Weekend 2014, courtesy of the Apocalyptic Post.

You can also check out Tank in the short film Mad Max: A Wasteland Story.

Dreadnoks! That's Shawn on the left as Torch.
From left to right: Torch, Heartwrencher, Monkeywrench, Ripper, Road Pig, and Buzzer.
And we're back! Again! In this episode, we explore an idea Shawn had to make a sort of post-apoc Siskel and Ebert show reviewing short films in the post-apoc genre. You should probably watch the films first (it won't take long!) so you know more about what we're discussing. Also, we give spoilers.

The Gift - Shawn: Thumbs Down, Jon: Thumbs Up
2 Hours - Shawn: Thumbs Up, Jon: Thumbs Up
Outcasted - Shawn: Thumbs Down, Jon: Thumbs Down
Last Strands of Man - Shawn - Thumb Down, Jon: Thumbs Down
When They're Gone - Shawn: Thumbs Up, Jon: Thumbs Up
Population: One - Shawn: Thumbs Down, Jon: Thumbs Down

We plan to do more shows like this in the future with more in-depth commentary on the literally thousands of post-apoc short films out there. Feel free to recommend your favorites!
